What is Walk for Hope?
Walk for Hope is a 5k run/2k walk that celebrates and encourages children and adults with IBD. The event benefits the Center for Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). The day will be filled with amazing entertainment as well as giveaways, refreshments, sweepstakes, inspiring patient stories and more. Teams and individuals can sign up for the 5k run or 2k walk, and participants of all skill levels are welcome.
How do I get started?
Visit the Walk for Hope registration page, then select a participation type: 2k walk or 5k run. IBD patients have the opportunity to register for free! Next, you will select to participate as an individual, join a team, or create a team. If you select create a team, you will then be asked to choose a team type: friends and family, corporate, college/university or CHOP employees.
Is there a fundraising requirement?
No, but we highly encourage participants to fundraise as all funds help create breakthroughs in care and advance knowledge about pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Donations create new hope for children who have this painful and often debilitating disease – so get fundraising!
Is there a limit to how many people can be on a team?
No, please encourage your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, and anyone else you can think of to join your team to support the Center for Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Have questions about creating or joining a team? Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are there sponsorship opportunities for my company?
What are my responsibilities as a team captain?
Team captains customize the team page, recruit team members, and motivate their team to raise funds to support breakthrough IBD research and care.
If I had a team last year, do I have to start over again?
Yes. Captains should visit the Walk for Hope registration page. As a captain, you can register by logging in and using the same email and password as the previous year. Then, you can start your team using the same team name as last year and register for the event.
When is the last day to register?
Online registration ends at noon on Friday, April 17. However, participants can still register in-person on the day of the event, Sunday, April 19, 2020, at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
How can I raise funds for Walk for Hope?

What are ways that I can secure donations?
Your supporters can donate online through your fundraising page and donate in-person through our ways to give.
Will I receive a tax receipt for my contributions?
Donations made payable to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Children’s Hospital Foundation will receive a tax ID letter. Registration fees are not tax deductible.
Can I send a check to go toward my fundraising commitment?
Absolutely! Checks should be made payable to “Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation — Walk for Hope.”

How do I know if my company has a matching gift program?
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions or volunteer hours made by their employees. Where can I park?
Complimentary parking will be available at the Philadelphia Navy Yard — 1 Crescent Drive and 1200 Intrepid Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19112. Parking is available in both lots. Get directions. Parking map coming soon!
Is there a rain date?
No, the event is rain or shine, we encourage everyone to dress for the weather.
What will I get at the event?
Besides an amazing day of celebration and raising funds to support the Center for IBD at CHOP with your friends and family, you will receive a Walk for Hope T-shirt, water, snacks and unlimited entertainment.
Are dogs welcome at the event?
No, unfortunately, only service animals are allowed. Dogs are not permitted at the event because of our insurance policies.
May I bring a stroller?
Yes, strollers are permitted on the course and at the event.
Where do I pick up my bib number and t-shirt?
Bib number and t-shirt pick up will be the morning of Walk for Hope, Sunday April 19, 2020. Day-0f registration and pick up will begin at 8:00am.
Is there a restroom available on the course?
Yes, there will be a restroom on the course. It will be located within the 1st mile of the route.
What should I wear to Walk for Hope?
We encourage all participants to wear comfortable, active clothing and shoes. Don’t be afraid to show your spirit —team shirts, etc.
Will there be food and drink at the event?
Yes, there will be drinks and snacks for all registered participants at the event.
May I bring my own food and beverage to the event?
Yes, outside food and beverage is permitted.
